Ahh, our house is officially on the market! We're very excited! Hopefully it will sell quickly and we'll be off to Florida in no time.

Last weekend we went to a Russian birthday party. It was very different but I liked it alot! The kids played in the basement and the hostess served us "Screwdrivers" (Vodka+orange juice) what's not to love?
Eric was the only American there and I was the only Swede. The rest were Russian/Ukranian and my friend's husband is from Iran. I love get togethers like that - people getting together from different cultures and different languages. Neat, and only 5 minutes from our house!

Åsa phone home.

Ok so I'm not bitter or anything...ok, maybe a bit because this is getting really old. I call my grandmas about 2 times a week or so, and this is what my conversation with grandma 1 sounds like. EVERY time!

Ring ring

Grandma: 16 11 84 (they answer by saying their phone number???)

Me: Hi, it's Åsa.

Grandma: Oh hi, how are you?

Me: I'm...(that's all I get to say before grandma interrupts me).

Grandma: I'm okay, I went for a walk/then to the store/then to the cemetery/then to your aunts house and now I'm back home and that was a long day and now I'm tired.
What time is it there?

Me: It's 9 am.

Grandma: Oh that's right i always forget about the time difference. (Really grandma, I've been calling you a couple of times a week for 7 YEARS!!!).

Me: Yeah, well I'm off to school soon.

Grandma: Oh so you're not working today?

Me: I don't work, I go to school (I haven't worked in 6 years) (ok, I know I work as a mom but that's not what she's talking about).

Grandma: What's the weather like?

Me: It's pretty hot.

Grandma: (Shouting in my ear) WHAAAAT? I CAN'T HEAR YOU!!!!!

Me: It's PRETTY HOT.

Grandma: WHAAAT???? WELL I CAN'T HEAR YOU BUT IT DOESN'T MATTER (really???).

Me: Ok, take care!

Grandma: IS ERIC WORKING?

Me: Yes/no.

Grandma: Well take care and give the girls hugs and kisses from me.

Me: Ok will do.

Grandma: BYEEEE NOW!

Me: BYEEEEEEE!

Argh! It's so frustrating. I can never tell her abouyt anything that's going on here because as soon as I try to say something she suddenly can't hear me anymore. We have THE SAME conversation over and over and I'm not sure if either of us is enjoying it anymore. I'm trying to tell her that I don't work. How hard can it be to understand that?!
She does have a hearing problem but I don't think that's really tha problem, I think she has more of a LISTENING problem. Grrrr.

Grandma 2 is a bit better as far as listening goes but she on the other hand is a bit mean...

Sometimes i get frustrated because she can be so mean and doesn't expect any retaliation....because you're not supposed to ask your grandma to shove it, are you?!

Dutch Wonderland!

Yesterday we took the girls to Dutch Wonderland in Pennsylvania, and we all had a great time! This was the first big outing we did without the stroller and the girls didn't complain once!
It's very reasonably priced at $30 per person (compared to other amusement parks where the girls can't do half the stuff anyways).
Eric and I both went on a ride with the girls - it was one of those spinning things and oh boy did it spin...UGH! We both had to take a break afterwards YUCK!!!!

Swedish midsummer!

A couple of weeks ago we went to Olney and celebrated the Swedish midsummer at a store called Klaradal. They have some really nice furniture but it's pretty expensive. There's a kitchen sofa that I would like but it's $700, (there's also one for $3200 GULP!). But it's fun to look around anyways!
On midsummer they served Swedish treats & drinks and we had a very nice time.

We're working hard at "staging" the house, basically meaning that we're cleaning up all the clutter and making it more "naked". The house looks neater but I have been putting stuff away in my closet, with the result that now I have to deal with the mess in the closet instead:-). I actually quite like straightening up the house - I guess I could have tried it sooner:-).

Midsummer!

last weekend was the Swedish midsummer and we celebrated by cooking out Sweden-style with some good friends. Earlier that day we sold Eric's old desk on craigslist and the couple who bought it was really nice and Eric loaded up the desk in our van and drove it to their place and helped them put it back together.
Craigslist has been great for us, the other day I sold a whole bunch of books, and I'm about to sell some of the girls old dresses.
Sweet!

I'm officially hating my math class now, not so much the algebnra itself but the people in the class grrrrr. Ahhh, 4 more days and it's done with! In those 4 days we have 2 exams, 1 quiz and 1 other homework assignment.

Craigslist!

Ahhh, I had my first experience with Craigslist, and it wasn't bad at all. I had a family come look at the double stroller but they ended up not buying it (yet). I have a few more people who are going to come over tomorrow and look at it also. There seem to be a few people out there who understands the true value of a Mountain Buggy. I can't say enough good things about it!! I'm sad to see it go but we don't use it anymore so what the heck, we need the space (and the $$$$).
I have a few other items listed as well so we'll see how it goes.

I'm VERY excited about the whole moving thing! I can't wait! I think we'll probably spend a few years in Florida and then we might head to Europe or wherever.
